KillZone II Concept Art by PeteAmachree KillZone II Concept Art by PeteAmachree
A younger Visari outlining his plans for conquest with his military top brass. The developer wanted a traditional Stalinist realism aesthetic for this picture.

Light seems to shine from him as he speaks his words of wisdom. Very good propaganda.

"The developer wanted a traditional Stalinist realism aesthetic for this picture."......He sure as hell got it...before I read that line, I was thinking this looks very parliamentary/Jeffersonian/old school independence day artwork.....GREAT JOB.

Wow holy sh*t, is this the same art work as you can see in the Killzone 3 intro? If it is, then you must be some concept artist for Guerilla Games, is that correct?

Very nice contrast between the main character and the soldiers around , i also like the way you painted them with only glasses and masks. Good job !

I played Killzone a bit and liked it, but this even if I never knew was it was, I'd have to say this is perfectly illustrates that personality cult theme alot of pre-WWII Hitler images had - the way his peers seem to hang on his every word, and the power of his gestures. Really thoughtful work, makes it more than just a 'game' : ) You really did wonders here

iv always wondered, why some helghast wear masks and some dont- has it got to do with their half breed/ parent background?

No worries Lorenz. I used photos ref for the figures. Photographed one at a time, and nudged around and arranged in Photoshop. They're all me, except the Visari dude in the middle.

Used some grunge maps to create the old canvas effect etc. The rest is hand drawn.

I see, thanks for the info :) I should use more ref. It will always make your art look better. Sometimes pride stands in the way though :/

Indeed. I resisted using photo ref for many years. I'm not sure which higher authority I thought I was satisfying by doing so. Ref won't buy you flair (not that you don't have plenty already of course :) ), it just oils the wheels, and can help to achieve a more realistic result.

Astounding detail all around; I'd say you hit the nail right on the head with that description. This barely looks like digital art at all with your techniques in play here! Very inspiring and creative and technically stunning! Superb art! :D
